From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.
Audiences can look forward to learning which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
